Make Up Work

Attendance is an extremely important part of your success in any math class!  Please make every effort to be present; it is very difficult to catch up when you miss new material.  There simply is not time for me to individually teach you the lesson you missed!  Students who regularly miss class do not do as well as students who are present. However, I understand that absences are occasionally necessary. If you must miss class, you are responsible for downloading the notes from my school website.  You are also responsible for doing the homework and coming in to get help if you need it.  As always, you should make every effort to read the notes yourself and attempt every problem before you come in for extra help.
You have as many days as you missed to turn in the missed work. This includes everything from homework to tests. For example, if you are absent on Monday and you return on Tuesday, you have until Wednesday to turn in the missed work.  That is one day after you receive the assignment.  If you were present when an assignment was made but absent on the day it was due, then you must turn it in immediately on the day you return.  You do not have extra days to turn in this work!  Therefore, if you were present when a test was scheduled, but you miss the day of the test, you should be ready to come take the test on the day you return.  Make it a priority!  Remember, you will need to come OUTSIDE of your regular class period. (before school, study hall, after school)

Getting Your Assignments: When your return from an absence, you should come to my room before school, during advisory, or at the 2:30 bell to copy notes or check solutions.  You can also check my school website for assignments and downloadable notes & handouts.

Making up Tests & Quizzes: If you miss a test, you must plan to make it up either before or after school, during lunch, or during a study hall.

Turning in Makeup Homework: Makeup homework may be turned in along with the class's regular assignment for the day.  It should be labeled with our regular header, including the date it was due and the date you are turning it in.  Again, the number of days you are allowed to get makeup work turned in is equal to the number of days you missed.  You MAY NOT work on makeup assignments during class.  Please do not turn in makeup work in the middle of class or at the end of class.  If you have done the work properly outside of class, you should be able to turn it in at the beginning of class.   Work turned in at the end of class or in the middle of class leads to the suspicion that you did not complete the work on your own or that you did it while you were supposed to be doing something else.
